This is the moment a driver suddenly stops in the fast lane of a busy motorway causing an SUV to crash and flip onto its roof while trying to avoid him.
The incident was captured by traffic cameras on the Shenyang-Haikou Expressway over the city of Xiamen, which is in Fujian Province in East China.
In the video dated 20th August, saloon car driver Mr Yang can be seen suddenly braking while in the fast lane of the busy motorway after realising he has missed a slip road.
A second saloon car behind him stops in time and avoids a collision, but a third car – the SUV – speeds into view and crashes into the back of the second vehicle.
The SUV flips onto its roof and slides across the motorway, the clip shows.
Officer Zheng Jianxin said: “The accident happened after the first driver stopped in an attempt to reach the slip road he had already missed, instead of using the next exit.
“He chose to change lanes, driving over the solid white lines.
“The vehicle driver behind did not anticipate the situation and was unable to evade the car in front, crashing into it
“He was going quite fast, so the car overturned.”
Fortunately, none of those involved was seriously injured during the accident, for which Mr Yang will be held fully liable.
Mr Yang explained he was following his satnav and did not realise he had missed the slip road.
He has been fined 150 RMB (17 GBP) and given three demerit points, but he may also be ordered to pay for damage done to the overturned SUV.
