Mexican supermarket workers have built a kennel for a stray dog to spend winter outside its doors that even has Christmas decorations.

Migajon the dog first took an interest in the new Oxxo convenience store when it was being built, and stayed in the immediate vicinity when it opened its doors to the public.

Local residents expected the dog to eventually move away from the new store, but it never did.

Supermarket workers then asked Oxxo bosses if they could build a kennel in front of the store so the dog had a place to stay and they could make sure it was well fed.

The kindhearted employees then organised the kennel’s construction in the company’s colours and even decorated it in Christmas garb.

Images of the pooch’s new home were shared on Facebook where they have been widely circulated by netizens.
