This is the moment strong winds rip the roofs off several buildings as storms continue to batter the Amazonian region.

The incident was filmed in the district of San Nicolas in the northern Peruvian province of Rodriguez de Mendoza, and the footage has been widely shared on social media.

One video shows the strong gusts ripping the roofs off several buildings, sending debris crashing onto the balcony where the cameraperson is filming.

A woman is heard saying “look” to other people before screaming as the debris falls around her feet.

A second clip shows a woman crossing a flooded street hit by the heavy rain and the strong winds.

The clip shows the rain becoming stronger as the gusts batter the residential area.

A cameraman is heard saying: “The wind has just ripped the roof off some buildings next to the church and here it has broken a patio beam . This is happening at 2 o’clock in the afternoon!”

Before the video ends, the man records a group of people on a roof in front of the street waiting for the strong rain to stop.

According to the National Centre of Emergency Operations (Coer Amazonas), the wind caused significant damage to several buildings with six families’ homes being badly affected by the storm.

Fortunately, no one has been reported as injured as the cleanup operation gets underway.
