Tottenham Hotspur target Donny van de Beek has reportedly decided to wait for an offer from Real Madrid after Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho’s arrival at the club.

The claims come from Dutch magazine ‘De Telegraaf’ as rumours of a possible transfer surround Ajax midfielder Van de Beek, 22, who has reportedly received the attention of club giants Tottenham and Real Madrid.

According to local media, the 22-year-old midfielder is now not interested in playing for Tottenham due to Mourinho’s surprising arrival at the club.

Van de Beek has instead opted to wait for an offer from the Spanish giants.

Despite the reported mutual interest between Real Madrid and Van de Beek, the footballer told local media he intended to play the entire season at Ajax.

Local media report Los Blancos, though still interested in the midfielder, have lost the urgency to find numbers for their midfield after the blooming of Uruguayan international Federico Valverde, 21.

Van de Beek is currently under contract with Ajax until 2022 and his transfer could cost up to a reported 55 million EUR (46.46 million GBP).

The energetic midfielder is having a successful season with the Dutch champions scoring seven goals and making six assists in 21 appearances this season.

He is considered one of the team’s most important players especially after two of the club’s former superstars Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong both left the club during this summer’s transfer window.

Ajax are top of the Eredivisie with 41 points, six points ahead of AZ Alkmaar.
