Her mother Eveniya Lyalina, a professional psychologist, explained: “My daughter has dysplasia on her upper lip which means a group of veins grows randomly and deforms the shape of her lip.”

She added that she is shocked that someone could be refused a job position based on something they cannot help.

However, representatives from the real estate company said that Yana did not get the job because of lack of experience for the role she was applying for.

Local media said they are considering legal action against Yana for discrediting the company.

Yana commented: “I thought they may not have liked my tattoo, nose ring or hairstyle, but it turns out that my lip was the problem and that is one part of my image I cannot control.”

Netizens advised Yana to take legal action of her own against the company or try for a different career better suited to her image.

Social media user ‘Artcooler’ said: “Try becoming an actress, they like people with interesting looks.”

‘NaffNaff’ commented: “Theoretically speaking, I am against discriminating against people based on physical attributes they have no control of. However, I once refused to buy a car from a dealer with advanced psoriasis. It felt disgusting to touch the car after he did.”

‘AKomolow’ wrote: “So there are no other jobs other than customer services? If someone wants to work, they will always find a job.”
