This is the moment cops arrest a Bulgarian man suspected of phoning in a fake bomb threat to the British embassy in Madrid – causing the whole building to be evacuated.

The Spanish authorities arrested the 47-year-old Bulgarian national as they believe he called in the fake bomb threat on the 24th floor of the Torre Espacio skyscraper in the Spanish capital Madrid on 16th April, on the 24th floor where the British, Australian, Canadian and Dutch embassies are housed.

The suspect, whose name has not been revealed, was charged with a public disorder crime and is believed to have been involved in similar incidents where calls stating explosive objects were located in the Ecuadorian embassy and a German foundation in Madrid were made.

The building is the fourth-highest in Spain and had to be evacuated because of the bomb threat. 

Police officers, firefighters and ambulances were called to the scene and only after the entire building was checked with sniffer dogs were those working there let back inside.

The false alarm of a bomb threat at the Ecuadorian embassy in Madrid was reportedly made on 11th April.

The Torre Espacio was designed by the architects Jose Bruguera and Henry N. Cobb in the Pei Cobb Freed & Partners studio. 

It is more than 235 metres (771 feet) high and has 56 floors as well as a further six underground floors for parking spaces.
