A man has been arrested for biting a security guard’s face multiple times on the Barcelona underground after leaving a nightclub with three female pals.
The incident took place at the Urquinaona station of the Barcelona Metro located in the north-eastern Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia when a group-of-four allegedly tried to board a tube without paying.
According to local media, two security guards approached the suspected fare dodgers, three women and a man, after they had left a city nightclub at around 6am.
The group began hurling insults and threats at the guards before the man jumped up and sank his teeth into a guard’s face, according to reports.
Reports said that a pair of nearby guards rushed to their colleague’s aid during the brawl and the unnamed victim was promptly taken to hospital by the emergency services.
The Security Guards Association shared photos on Twitter and wrote: “We woke up with another aggression this morning in Urqui, Barcelona. Our colleague was bitten on both his cheeks and he may need skin grafts.”
According to local media, the unnamed suspect has been arrested by officers of the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan police) and the investigation is ongoing.
