A young man has been arrested for this savage attack on his elderly dad in which he hit him with a stick for selling land the son had hoped to inherit to pay for medical treatment.

The incident took place near the city of Patna in the district of Katihar in the north-eastern Indian state of Bihar, and was filmed by an onlooker who shared the clip on Facebook.

In the footage, the burly man in a hoodie is seen standing in front of his elderly father, lying on the floor and moaning after being hit.

The son then belts the bottom half of his body with a ‘lathi’, an iron-bound bamboo stick, three times as his dad howls even louder in pain.

At the end of the clip, a woman takes the stick from the son who continues to berate his father as he lays on the ground.

The dad has been identified as Baldev Mandal and his son, Pankaj Mandal, was arrested when the police showed up on the scene.

According to local media, Pankaj would not let his father go to hospital until the cops arrived.

Officers eventually transferred Baldev to hospital and he is currently receiving care.

The elderly man was beaten because he had sold a plot of land to pay for his own medical treatment, which angered his son. The exact nature of the medical treatment that the OAP needed is currently unclear.
