This is the bizarre moment a man dressed in just a thong breaks into a primary school to steal bathroom taps while pupils sing Happy Birthday in the background.

CCTV footage of the theft shows the crook sneaking through the school in Lago Norte, Federal District, Brazil.

After carefully checking that the coast is clear, he then creeps out of the bathroom, leaving water flooding through the building.

Not content with successfully stealing the bathroom fixtures, the man then returned a second time two days later for an aluminium ladder.

He was arrested on Tuesday, 13th December.

Police said that the unnamed man is 40 years old and had climbed over a wall to get into the school.

His actions caused a flood with 80,000 litres of water flooding through the building.

He declined to say why he had stripped before carrying out the theft.

The stolen bathroom fittings have been returned and put back into place.

Local media report he faces up to four years in jail for aggravated theft and criminal damage.
