Soldiers Find Puppies And Chained Up Mum Left Without Food At Home Evacuated Because Of Wildfires

This is the moment Turkish soldiers – carrying out an inspection at an evacuated house due to the ongoing wildfires – come across a litter of puppies and its chained-up mum, left without food and water for days and unable to feed her little ones.

The video of the chained mother dog was filmed near the town of Yatagan in the south-western Turkish province of Mugla.

Wildfires broke out in southern provinces, mainly on the Turkish Riviera, on 28th July and are still raging in multiple regions.

Soldiers carrying out a search-and-rescue patrol at one evacuated home were surprised to find a litter of puppies still alive in the nook of a rock wall and its mother several feet away, chained up and unable to feed them.

According to the news site Haberler, soldiers heard the faint sounds of puppy yelps and removed large stones from a rock wall to discover them still alive after days left alone.

Meanwhile, their worried mum was stuck on a chain nearby, unable to reach her little ones to feed or care for them.

Soldiers immediately removed bottled water and baguettes from their bags to give to the adult dog, as seen in the footage.

Due to how quickly the dog bolts down the food and water, the soldiers believe they were left alone there for several days.

After the video ends, one soldier reportedly helped the mother dog to breastfeed her starving puppies.

The Gendarmerie General Command later announced that the dog family is being cared for by staff members.

According to Haberler, hundreds of thousands of animals have died during the wildfires raging across the country’s south while hundreds of families have had to be evacuated for their safety.
