This is the moment a world champion Turkish boxer shows fans his bloodied hand after claiming he had just broken the jaw of one of the people in the gang that attacked him over his critical stance of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
WBU (World Boxing Union) world champion Unsal Arik, 40, who lives in the German capital Berlin and is known for his opposition to Turkey’s President Erdogan and his ruling party AKP (Justice and Development Party), shared the video on Instagram on 9th August.
Arik, who said he has been attacked by groups in Germany before over his criticism of the Turkish government, indicated he had broken the jaw of one of the people who he suspected were supporters of Erdogan who booted it would not be around for much longer anyway.
He said: “Next time I won’t just break your jaw. I don’t know if what you’re doing is worth it for these temporary people, but it seems like you want to get in my hair. “
Erdogan has come under massive criticism recently over the country’s handling of the wildfires that is included rejecting some international aid claiming Turkey could manage on its own as thousands of hectares of forest were destroyed.
the boxer continued: “The next time, I will break all your bones, not just your jaw. May Allah give you what you deserve, be ashamed! Be very ashamed of yourself.
“How can you explain calling an athlete representing the Turkish flag a ‘traitor’ and attacking him without conscience? I genuinely feel sorry for you.”
In the clip, Arik shows his bloodied hand to the camera before touching a reddened area of his face where he allegedly sustained blows.
The boxer is clearly in pain and holds his face as the footage ends.
After the video was widely viewed on Instagram, many Turkish artists, celebrities and netizens wished him well.
It is unclear who the perpetrators were or whether Arik knew them before. It is also unknown if the Berlin authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
