Obsessed Francesco Angiolini, 52, subjected victim Marialuisa Jacobell to a “climate of terror” when he refused to accept the romance was over.

Angiolini spent months tracking the star’s movements and blitzing her and her parents with thousands of phone calls, texts and emails.

And when he found she was living with her parents, he got into the house and slapped and punched her repeatedly, the court in Milan heard.

Marialuisa Jacobell – who has nearly two million followers on Instagram – told the court he had threatened her with a “nightmare” if she reported him to police.

The sports reporter works as a presenter at the Gruppo Mediaset and before that, was a sports journalist for DAZN group.

She told how he began stalking her when the brief relationship ended in January and only ended in June when he was arrested.

Angiolini was ordered to pay his victim compensation for the attacks and threats and to undergo therapy after the court heard he had also carried out a similar attack against another female journalist.

The court said that the sentencing had been mitigated by the fact that he had voluntarily undergone therapy and had paid a significant amount of money in compensation to his victim.
