This is the moment a young mum films herself beating her jailbird ex-husband’s toddler daughter and pulling the tot’s hair before sending him the clip.

According to reports, the mother, identified as 38-year-old Ximena Carolina Tapia Quintana, has been arrested in the commune of Maipu in the central Chilean province of Santiago after the video was posted online.

The girl’s father, who is currently in prison and whose name was not disclosed, posted the video on social media after the suspect sent it to him to reportedly get back at him.

In the footage, the mother is seen slapping and pulling the young girl’s hair while saying: “Look what I am doing to your daughter because I do not love her.”

According to police spokesman Captain Jorge Mancilla, the mother was arrested and later released, but will have to go back to the police station in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, a family court ruled that the young girl, aged two years and nine months, will live with her paternal grandmother.

Chilean Minister of Justice and Human Rights Hernan Larrain said that “the reaction [to the video] has been widely condemned” and that “we are living in a period with a lot of social violence”.

The investigation is ongoing.
