This is the moment Chinese hotel workers enter a room after a man had stayed there for a month and discover piles of rubbish, food waste and hundreds of cigarette butts.

The incident was filmed in the city of Mangshi in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan after an unnamed client spent one month staying in the room.

Hotel workers went to the room after the man checked out, only to discover piles of rubbish strewn around the main area and bathroom.

A hotel spokesperson said that a cleaning service was offered to the male guest many times during his stay, but he refused every time.

The hotel did not mention if they plan to contact the guest over potential damage to the room.

In the footage, a hotel worker is seen entering the room and encountering rubbish all over the floor and furniture.

The camerawoman shrieks at the sight of the filthy bathroom and then just ends up laughing as she comes to the bed, with a stack of rubbish to the side so high that it is nearly level with the mattress.

She then pans to the dirty bed sheet and shows hundreds of cigarette butts spilling out of a plastic container and onto the bed.

Meanwhile, the wrapping and remains of every meal the man consumed during his one-month stay appears to be lying around the hotel room.
