A sex-starved wife has pleaded with a Zimbabwe court to order her husband’s alleged lover to keep away because he has lost his appetite for sex and she is feeling “psychologically disturbed” as a result.

The incident took place in the south-western Zimbabwean city of Bulawayo when Alice Mutero claimed that her 60-year-old husband John Mutero was no longer having sex with her because he is having an affair with 45-year-old Francisca Chipangu Shumba, who is also married.

Reports said that Alice went to the Bulawayo Civil Court seeking a peace order against the alleged mistress because their affair is causing her emotional and psychological distress.

She said: “I am legally married to John Mutero in terms of the Marriages Act Chapter 5:11 and it still subsists but Francisca Chipangu Shumba is in love with my husband.

“She has the guts to call my husband late at night knowing that he will be with me. She is also calling me on my phone to insult me.”

Alice added: “She is emotionally abusing me as she has even made my husband deprive me of my conjugal rights and as a result, I am now psychologically disturbed.”

Francisca said: “When I started dating her husband, I was really aware that they were married in terms of the Marriages Act Chapter 5:11. It just happened that I fell in love with her husband and we have been in love for eight years and our relationship is blessed with a two-month-old baby.

“However, I deny that I phone her husband, as he is the one who is always phoning me.”

Reports said that the magistrate scolded Francisca, advising her that she should finish her relationship with the married man or risk being sued for adultery.

He advised her not to verbally or emotionally abuse the claimant and to only contact the husband regarding matters related to their two-month-old child.

Local media said that Francisca was also told by the magistrate to stop the affair with John Mutero.
