Prosecutors in Mexico have warned of a “sociopathic” serial killer who has been murdering female bar workers close to the US border.

The Baja California State Prosecutor’s Office has raised the alarm about an American serial killer who is believed to have slain at least three women in Tijuana.
Prosecutor Ivan Carpio Sanchez described him as “prone to criminal behaviour, to reacting violently, and sociopathic”.
He added: “Very similar to the guy known in decades past who got a lot of airtime and who went by the name Ted Bundy.”
One of the women he is believed to have killed is 25-year-old Elizabet Martinez Cigarroa.
She had disappeared on Valentine’s Day following a date with the suspect at the bar where she worked as a dancer.
Three days later, on 17th February, her brother had found her naked body in the boot of an abandoned SUV.

Prosecutors say Elizabet was the third female bar worker in the area to have been killed in similar circumstances.
His other two victims have been identified only as 28-year-old Karen, from Veracruz, and Angela.
Carpio Sanchez had previously said of the suspect: “He’s someone who attacks people in vulnerable situations.
“Working alone, he deceives them so he can be in a situation where he can attack them, under the pretext of engaging in intimate activities.”
Mexican officials have not released his name but some reports have identified him as 30-year-old Brayan Andrade Rivera from California, USA.
Prosecutors have now filed for an arrest warrant against him with judicial officials and requested his extradition from the USA.
Local media described him as “bulky” and his chosen victims as “petite”.
He was reportedly identified through footprints he had left at crime scenes, CCTV footage, and witness statements.
The State Prosecutor’s Office is now reportedly waiting for collaboration from the FBI and Interpol to be able to get him back on Mexican soil and put him on trial.

Ted Bundy – whom Carpio Sanchez referred to – was one of the most notorious criminals of the late 20th century, having sexually assaulted and killed several young women across the USA in the 1970s.
He ultimately confessed to 28 murders, but some estimated that he was responsible for hundreds of deaths.
He was executed by electrocution in 1989.
