An actress paid the price for being too convincing as she starred in a horror escape room drama when one of the terrified players battered her senseless.
Rina Runenko was one of the cast aiming to make the immersive drama truly creepy for participants in the city of Tambov, in western Russia’s Tambov Oblast region.
But as she burst in on a group searching for clues, one of them panicked and punched her in the face so hard she fell over.
CCTV footage of the encounter shows Rina running into the small room as the players are reading clues on a table.
But a teenage boy is so spooked he punches her hard in the face.
The blow is so powerful that Rina drops instantly to the floor as the footage cuts out.
Local media reported that she suffered a bruised shoulder, hand, elbow and thigh in the fall.
Rina explained later: “The game was late. Booked by a girl, she said: ‘Can I go with children?’
“I said, if you are a responsible person, then you can, but they can be scared, even though the quest is contactless.”
She went on: “They came, and they seemed to be a very positive team. I heard from the first reaction that they were scared, yes.
“Oh, I thought, ‘Cool, now I’ll give them a show’.
“I jump in there, walk over the bridge. I open the door to run in – and the last thing I remember is I’m flying, because a fist is flying at me.
“My boyfriend ran in. He said, ‘What are you doing?’ And the man who hit me replied, ‘I didn’t do anything.’
“They showed him [the footage that was caught] on the cameras, he understood that there was no denying it and said, ‘I did it so that the children would not be frightened’.”
The police are investigating the incident, but Rina has asked that the teenager who hit her during the game not be prosecuted.
The Russian police are quoted in local media as saying: “We were contacted by a girl who was injured during the incident in the quest room.
“She wrote a statement in which she indicated that she had no claims against the offender and asked not to take action against this person.”
