Secret KGB Bunker On Market For 300,000 GBP

This KGB bunker complete with a network of underground tunnels which was kept secret for decades is now available to buy for 312,000 GBP.

The plot of land containing the bunker in Inota in Hungary’s Veszprem County, has been put up for sale on a property website for 125 million HUF (312,586 GBP).

The bunker, which measures 1,400 square metres (15,069 square feet), was reportedly used by the Soviet secret service, the KGB, and its existence was kept secret for decades.

The bunker reportedly contains a network of underground tunnels which are protected by thick layers of concrete and dolomite.

There are reportedly three large halls inside the bunker as well as toilets and bathrooms.

The bunker has electricity, phone connections and running water as it was reportedly used as part of a chain for gathering information on the troposphere, the lowest part of the earth’s atmosphere.

The plot of land up for sale measures 2,012 square metres (21,656 square feet)and lies near the dismantled Inota thermal power station which was taken out of operation in 2001.

The KGB was the main security agency for the Soviet Union from 1954 until its break-up in 1991. Hungary was part of the Soviet Bloc from 195 until 1989.
