This is the moment a pickup truck speeding across a beach with a group of students on the back overturns and traps a screaming teenage girl underneath.

In the video, two pickup trucks can be seen speeding across the sand when the red vehicle in the background suddenly overturns and onlookers sprint towards it.

A clip taken by one of the School of Bachilleres students in the back of the pickup truck shows them speeding across the sand when screams can be heard as the vehicle overturns.

The person recording then regains their breath and runs back to the vehicle where one of the students has her legs caught under it.

The incident took place on the beach in the city of Huatabampo, in the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora.

A man is lying motionless on the sand as onlookers work to lift the vehicle off the girl’s legs as she screams: “Help me, help me, I’m begging you, God, help me I cannot stand it anymore!”

The authorities confirmed the girl, named in reports as Laura, 17, had fractured her pelvis in the incident and will require surgery.

The other students were also taken to hospital and have now all be discharged. The vehicle was reportedly being driven by an unnamed student but it is unclear who it belongs to.

Jose Guadalupe Ayala Estrada, the headmaster of the school the youngsters attend, said that Laura’s condition is good as she awaits surgery.

The Governor of Sonora, Claudia Pavlovich, wrote about the incident on social media, commenting: “There is someone who is willing to give his life for you and we will not rest until we have seen your dreams come true.”
