This is the moment the Russian Armed Forces take part in trench warfare exercises in a barren landscape with the use of Terminator helicopters and tank formations.

During the exercises in the south-eastern Russian region of Amur Oblast, over 150 different types of equipment were used, including T-80BV and BMP-2 tanks and 2C3 Akatsiya self-propelled howitzers.

The war games took place over several days and opposing sides dug in their positions to try to gain a tactical advantage.

Rifle regiments held a strong defence, but tank formations manage to break through the frontlines.

However, the tank columns encountered an airstrike by two Mi-8AMTSh ‘Terminator’ helicopters and were eventually penned back.

A statement from the Russian Ministry of Defence said: “Following a coordinated attack by the rifle regiments and the Terminator pilots, the tank columns were limited and later blocked.

“The exercise showed a high level of training and a series of competent actions by the team commanders. It also successfully used modern aviation and artillery methods.”

Overall, around 150 different types of equipment were used in the war games, including T-80BV and BMP-2 tanks and 2C3 Akatsiya self-propelled howitzers.

The Mi-8AMTSh is an armoured assault version of the Mi-8AMT helicopter that is nicknamed the Terminator. Its armament is derived from the Mi-24 gunship and it made its first flight in 1996.
