This 16-year-old Russian schoolgirl has become the youngest ever artist to illustrate for a ‘Vogue’ front cover with a stunning image of her idol Billie Eilish who picked the teen herself.

According to local media, Anastasia Kovtun from the city of Chaykovsky in the western Russian region of Perm Krai has provided an illustration of American pop sensation Billie Eilish, 18, that will feature on the cover of next month’s edition of Vogue.

Vogue magazine editor Liana Satenstein said: “When our team wrote to Anastasia to tell her that Vogue wants her Billie Eilish portraits for the March edition, the girl first thought it was a joke.

“She requested a scanned copy of the Vogue cover with Russian translations as proof we were serious.”

The Vogue editor added that Anastasia was one of the two young artists personally recommended by Billie Eilish herself.

The other considered artist was 20-year-old Kylie Young from Michigan in the US, according to reports.

Satenstein said: “Anastasia Kovtun, who drew Billie Eilish in a Louis Vuitton dress, became the youngest ever artist to create a digital Vogue cover.”

Meanwhile, Kovtun told local media: “I heard Billie’s first song around a year ago and became interested in her character, she was so young and famous, I thought I could also create something and develop myself.”

“I started drawing portraits before posting them on social media, tagging Eilish’s account and, every once in a while, she liked my pictures.”

After Eilish chose Kovtun as the artist, the Russian schoolgirl said: “Billie picked me herself and that’s why I’m so happy! I still can’t believe it’s going to be on the cover!”
