Russia Says Its Paratroopers Destroyed Two Ukrainian Armoured Vehicles Near Bakhmut

Russia has said that its paratroopers have destroyed two Western-made armoured vehicles near Bakhmut.

The footage shows the Russian ordnance hitting one of two moving targets, allegedly Ukrainian armoured combat vehicles.

The footage obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday, 10th January, along with a statement claiming: “Airborne units from the Southern Group of Forces continue to destroy manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Artemovsk [former name for Bakhmut] direction.

“During the performance of combat missions, Russian paratroopers, using surveillance devices with a thermal imager, spotted a column of the Armed Forces of Ukraine consisting of two Western-made armoured combat vehicles (AFVs) moving towards the line of combat contact to carry out the rotation of personnel in forward positions.”

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 10th January 2024. Russia had lost approximately 366,790 personnel, 6,038 tanks, 11,216 armoured combat vehicles, 8,684 artillery units, 956 multiple launch rocket systems, 639 air defence systems, 329 warplanes, 324 helicopters, 6,834 drones, 1,805 cruise missiles, 23 warships, 1 submarine, 11,575 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,336 units of special equipment.
