Russia Says Its Modernised T-90M ‘Breakthrough’ Tanks Carried Out Fire Missions In Donetsk

Russia has said that its modernised T-90M ‘Breakthrough’ tanks have fired at Ukrainian military positions in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.

The video shows a Russian tank manoeuvring out of a hiding place in a forest before it starts firing at unseen targets.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Thursday, 9th February, along with a statement claiming: “The Russian Ministry of Defence published footage of the combat work of the crew of the T-90M ‘Proryv’ tank of the ‘Southern’ group of troops during fire missions in the Donetsk direction in the zone of a special military operation.”

The Russian MoD added: “The crews of the T-90M ‘Breakthrough’ tanks carry out fire support missions for the assault detachments of the Southern Group of Forces and destroy enemy infantry in the strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and also ensure the operation of armoured vehicles, which, with the help of a trawl, clear the way for the assault landing groups.

“Using the terrain, the crews of modernized T-90M Proryv tanks advance to the line of opening fire, destroy the manpower of Ukrainian formations in shelters, and also suppress its firing points, allowing assault troops to advance deeper into the enemy’s defences.

“Tankers successfully hit targets located at a considerable distance and beyond the line of sight. Strikes are carried out according to coordinates obtained using a UAV in real time.
