Russia Says Its Ka-52 Alligator Attack Helicopters Hit Ukrainian Positions In Lyman

These images purport to show Russian Ka-52 ‘Alligator’ attack helicopters firing S-8 unguided missiles at Ukrainian military positions.

The footage shows three Russian attack helicopters preparing for takeoff before taking to the skies.

The video then shows the helicopters flying low over countryside before one unleashes S-8 unguided missiles at unseen targets.

The footage then shows at least one of the helicopters coming in to land back at base as the footage ends.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Friday, 23rd February, along with a statement claiming: “The strike group of the army aviation of the Aerospace Forces hit enemy personnel and strongholds in the Krasnolimansk direction.

“The strike was carried out by S-8 unguided aircraft missiles from the closest possible distance in difficult weather conditions.

“According to the report of the forward aircraft gunner, all targets were successfully hit, after which the crews performed an anti-missile maneuver using the onboard defense system and successfully returned to their temporary location.

We have not been able to independently verify the claims or the footage.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 23rd February 2024. Russia had lost approximately 408,240 personnel, 6,526 tanks, 12,410 armoured combat vehicles, 9,916 artillery units, 999 multiple launch rocket systems. 682 air defence systems, 339 warplanes, 325 helicopters, 7,628 drones, 1,903 cruise missiles, 25 warships, 1 submarine, 12,960 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,575 units of special equipment.
