The Russian nurse who became internationally famous when she wore only lingerie underneath her hazmat gown while treating COVID patients has become a weather girl.

Twenty-three-year-old Nadezhda Zhukova said that it was too hot to wear anything other than her underwear when she was wearing the transparent PPE gear while working in the coronavirus ward at the Tula Regional Clinical Hospital.

When the images were shared worldwide, her furious bosses sanctioned her for the non-standard clothing attire, but then withdrew it when there was widespread outcry from a large number of supporters that she quickly amassed online.

She had also been defended by Tula regional governor and Putin ally Alexey Dyumin who urged hospital managers to rethink.

After that, there followed modelling contracts, and now she has crowned it all by being offered the job of a weather presenter on her local TV station in the city of Tula which is south of Moscow.

She said however that although it was a lot of fun, she plans to continue working as a nurse and to continue studying to eventually become a doctor.

She said that neither the TV work nor the modelling work for a Russian sportswear brand would get in the way of her achieving her ambitions for her medical career.

The young woman, who with all other commitments does not have a boyfriend, said that one of the motivations by adding television and presenting on “Russia 1” had been because she was proud of the fact that her parents were going to see her broadcasts and pledged: “They told me they will watch me every day after work.”

Her first performance was on 22nd July with recording organised around her work at the local Tula Regional Clinical Hospital.

Speaking about her decision to wear the outfit that made her famous, she added that she thought maybe some people might notice it locally, but had no idea it would go around the world. She said some of the comments had been painful, but all the support including from political admirers had been a very positive experience.
