ROUND DOG: Extremely Overweight Rottweiler Weighing Over 220 Lbs Begins Weight Loss Journey

A female Rottweiler weighing over 220 lbs has lost nine lbs in two weeks after animal activists put her on a strict diet to shed the extra fat.

The extremely overweight canine, aged 6 and named Easylife, was brought to the Tierparadies Schabenreith shelter in the municipality of Steinbach am Ziehberg, in Upper Austria, Austria.

Animal shelter officials reported she weighed twice the normal species’ weight when they took her in on Wednesday, 5th October 2022.

At the time animal shelter manager Doris Hofner-Foltin said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “This is serious animal abuse.

“Absolutely incomprehensible how a single person could be so neglectful.

“In addition to being insanely overweight, her claws are way too long and obviously haven’t been cared for.”

But after being taken care of by animal activists, Easylife managed to get rid of her first extra pounds.

After her starting weight of 100 kilogrammes (220 lbs), she now reached 96 kilogrammes (211 lbs) in 14 days.

Animal shelter manager Doris Hofner-Foltin enthusiastically said: “Easylife felt comfortable with us very quickly and lost four kilogrammes (nine lbs).

” We are on the right track, even though it will take some time before we reach our ideal weight.”

Animal shelter manager Harald Hofner was relieved that the vet check showed that apart from being overweigh, Easylife was a perfectly healthy dog.

Hofner said: “The transport to the vet was a challenge, but Easylife mastered it brilliantly.”

The manager revealed that Easylife’s new daily routine includes sufficient exercise and a liquid-based diet that involves a lot of low-calorie pumpkin seeds to regulate her stool.

Hofner added: “Rottweilers can live up to 14 years, but whether they will reach this age when left this overweight is very questionable.”
