ROCK AND A HARD PLACE: Miracle Survival Of Brit In 6,000ft Paraglide Plunge Onto Rocks

A British tourist has miraculously survived a terrifying 6,000-foot paragliding plunge from a mountain onto rocks, reported Turkish media.

Holidaymaker Angus George Beaton, 27, had taken off from the 1,800-metre- (5,905-foot-) high runway on Babadag Mountain in the popular tourist resort of Oludeniz in Fethiye District, Mugla Province, south-western Turkey.

But within moments, his chute had apparently failed and he had plummeted towards the ground, crashing onto rocks.

Emergency services were called and officers from the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Battalion Command and the National Medical Rescue Team were dispatched to the scene.

They quickly located Beaton, loaded him on a stretcher, and rushed him to Fethiye State Hospital.

Medics found he had sustained several fractures in the collision and treated him for his injuries.

His condition is reported to be non-life-threatening.

The incident comes just days after another British tourist died in a paragliding accident at the same spot.

Frank Lally, 62, fell to his death onto rocks on 4th October shortly after leaping from the same mountain.
