A self-proclaimed prophet has been accused of being a fraudster after claiming that England will win the EURO 2020 finals against Italy – with some disgruntled fans threatening to burn down his church after betting on his words.
Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, Founder of Glorious Wave Church located in the small town of Sakumono in Ghana became a figure of public mockery when he falsely predicted that the Lord had revealed that England would defeat Italy at the EURO 2020 finals.
The self-proclaimed prophet set himself up for trolls on social media when he passed on the divine ‘words of God’ stating that England would defeat Italy at the EURO 2020 finals.
He said: “Today, England will beat Italy. That is the work of a prophet . . . to keep saying what God is saying.”
However, after Italy triumphed 3-2 on penalties and won the tournament, football fanatics who placed a bet based on Kobi’s prophecy have now even vowed to burn down his church.
Others like Tweeter user ‘kobby afriyiye’ took his prophecies more lightly and decided to mock the pastor by saying: “Next time when God calls, listen carefully to the message!”
Another one named Don SarkCess added: “Prophet Badu Kobi should be predicting more matches. We’ll just bet against everything he says and make money out of it.”
The prophet has not made any effort to justify his failed prediction which embarrassingly came after he also failed to predict another football result.
He had previously ensured netizens that the Brazilians will win the Copa America title as revealed to him by the spirit of the Lord on Sunday on 11th July.
The Ghanaian pastor and businessman said before the Copa America match on Sunday: “Now for the match which will happen tonight between Brazil and Argentina, Brazil will win. Argentina will not win, Messi is part of Argentina, he is a great footballer but the night is not for them, the night is for Brazil and Brazil will win this cup. That is what the spirit of the Lord has revealed to me.”
Unfortunately for the prophet Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 and won the Cup.
