Pretty Mum Of Two Dies In Dune Bashing Accident When ATV Overturned And Crushed Her

This pretty 34-year-old mum of two has died in a dune bashing accident after the ATV she was on with her friend and two young sons overturned and crushed her.

The incident took place on a strip of beach known as La Frontera in the Argentinian coastal resort city of Pinamar at around 4.30pm on Wednesday, 29th December.

Agustina Queirel, who hailed from the city of Corrientes, was on holiday in the area with her two sons aged 2 and 7 and a female friend, described in some sources as her partner, aged 36.

The off-road vehicle flipped over when the mother, who was at the wheel, drove it up a sand dune.

The mum, who was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time, remained trapped in the vehicle and was crushed by its weight, dying at the scene.

The boys and the other woman, named as Maria Emilia, were flung out of the CFORCE 625 when it overturned.

The older son was unscathed, while the other two sustained multiple but mild injuries and were taken to the municipal hospital. They are said to not be in danger.

According to reports, the vehicle was being driven outside the designated dune bashing zone, in a prohibited area, at the time of the accident.

According to officials responsible for safety at the beach, there are always members of staff present and the designated area is clearly signposted.

However, they reported that some tourists still choose to ignore the rules.

Dune bashing is very popular in the area, with an estimated 25,000 off-road vehicles hitting the sandy beach every summer.

The activity is heavily regulated, with fines often doled out to drivers who forgo their helmets or who perform dangerous manoeuvres, among other infractions.

The authorities have told local media that criminal liability lies with the driver alone if the driver is at fault for the accident.

Prosecutor Juan Pablo Calderon has since closed the case, as it was deemed that responsibility lied with the mum, who passed away.
