This footage shows a responsible youngster leaving money and a letter of apology after accidentally breaking a stranger’s flower pot in eastern China.

The young boy, who was not named in local media in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, was playing with a basketball in a corridor when it accidentally slipped from his hands and smashed a flower pot on 2nd December.

CCTV footage shows the lad pacing back and forth, scratching his head with his hands from time to time, and then walking away.

But the mistake seems to have troubled the pure-hearted boy so much that just ten minutes later, he returns and places an envelope under another pot.

The envelope was discovered by a woman, named Ms Yu in local media, who owns the flowers.

She reportedly found CNY 10 (GBP 1.18) tucked inside, along with a letter of apology for accidentally breaking the pot.

“Sorry for breaking your flower pot, I don’t know how much it’s worth, please contact me if the value is high,” the boy wrote in his letter.

The confused Ms Yu later checked the surveillance footage and saw the boy hitting the flowers by mistake, and then returning with the letter.

Ms Yu praised the boy for his responsible behaviour.

She said: “The flower pot is actually only soil, and I think the little boy is very responsible.”

Ms Yu added that she would find the boy and return the money to the child.
