Piranhas Strip Amazon Boatman To The Bone

This is the horror movie moment when a man’s gruesome skeletal remains are pulled from an Amazonian river after his body was stripped to the bone by piranhas.

Boatman Odair Raash, 46, had earlier disappeared transporting cattle on the river near Costa Marques Rondonia State, Brazil.

The gnawed remains of his body were found 35 kilometres (20 miles) up river by horrified locals on 1st January.

In grim footage which has only just emerged Raash’s body is being dragged onto sheets of tarpaulin on the river bank.

Bizarrely his clothes are completely intact right down to his boots.

But virtually every scrap of flesh or internal organs has been eaten down to the bone.

All that’s left is the skin on his hands and a strip of hair along the back of his head.

The bite marks to his body were reportedly consistent with a mass piranha attack, although some reports said that other animals may also have feasted on his flesh.

Police are investigating Raash’s death and are reportedly attempting to establish if the crew on his boat were drunk.
