A Mexican pastor and former politician who lost two of his children in drug-gang attacks has reportedly been shot in the head in front of his family.

Eduardo Trasante was killed at his home on San Nicolas Street in the city of Rosario in the central Argentine province of Santa Fe.

A preliminary investigation said that two armed suspects knocked on the front door and the victim’s wife answered. She was forced to take the men to where her husband was.

As soon as they saw him, one man shot him in the head in front of his family, according to the newspaper La Capital.

Officers found a bullet cartridge in the room and started their investigations.

In January 2012, Trasante’s son Jeremias and two friends were killed by drug traffickers while playing on a football pitch.

Trasante’s other son Jairo Natanel was killed in the city centre in February 2014.

At the time, the evangelical pastor protested for justice for both his killed sons, according to La Capital.

Trasante was elected to the City Council in 2017 but reportedly stepped down a year later due to harassment.
