Passenger Finds Bloodstains On Seat During Flight And Is Told To Clean Them Herself

This is the moment a nurse wipes away bloodstains she found on the back of the seat in front of her after a flight attendant told her to clean them herself.

Canadian Nurse Birgit Umaigba Omoruyi was on a Canadian airline ‘Air Transat’ flight when she noticed the bloodstains on the seat she was sitting behind.

She shared her experience in a video that is going viral, notching up over 200,000 views in just about 24 hours since being shared online on 3rd December.

In the video, Omoruyi can be seen cleaning a bloodstain on the back of the seat with a glove and antibacterial wipes in the aircraft.

In the post Omoruyi shared online, she tagged Air Transat, saying: “Dear ‘airtransat’, What more can I say? As if it was not enough to find fresh blood on the seat in front of me, one of your flight attendants provided me with disinfectant wipes to wipe it off with my bare hands.

“Thank God for common sense; I asked for gloves and wiped the blood off as told.

“Next time, feel free to call on me to help you clean the entire plane so this never happens again.”

Omoruyi further complained about another unnamed member of the same aircraft crew, saying: “Then, after waiting 3 hours inside the plane for the flight to take off, one of your staff was busy yelling at a Black elderly woman who asked to use the washroom just before the final announcement that the 3hr long hydraulic problem had been fixed.

“It was so disgusting to watch.

“I hope you do better for the very people enriching your business.”

One ‘Alexe’ from Air Transat replied, saying: “Hi there, I am sorry to read this. This is not the type of experience we want to provide to our passengers and not up to our standards.

“Air Transat strives to provide a safe and secure environment on board our aircraft for you, other passengers, and our crewmembers.

“Please send us a private message with your booking information so we can address this incident immediately. Thank you!”

Netizen ‘Meaghan Bilodeau’ said: “I always bring disinfectant wipes with me on an airplane. Always.”

‘Sarah Bee’ added: “Like you don’t wipe enough blood in your day job. Now u have to do it while travelling. Insane.”

Then ‘Laura Miers’ talked about a similar incident involving a man when an ‘Airline passenger found a plane floor soaked in blood,’ saying: “I am so sorry. This seems to be an ongoing theme. This man posted about this incident when it happened. The airline did not follow up with the passengers at all. I’m not sure the incident was even reported.”

At the time of writing, it is unknown if Air Transat has taken any other action.
