A music teacher has been seized by police after a female colleague was found dead in his home.

Victim Fabiola Vianey Leyva Lopez, 27, was reported missing by relatives in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, on Saturday, 18th June.

Just a day earlier, she had accepted a lift from her suspected killer when she was on her way to pick up her son from a karate class.

Police arrested her colleague – named only as Luis Carlos S. – when they saw CCTV footage of Fabiola leaving her home in a car registered to his mother.

The music teacher reportedly admitted the killing and told police where to find Fabiola’s body.

But in a bizarre twist, police had to wait for a day for a search warrant to get into the property.

An autopsy gave Fabiola’s cause of death as suffocation due to airway obstruction.

Luis Carlos was remanded in custody in Goro II prison, where, at the time of reporting, he was being held before his first court hearing.

There is no information about the possible motive at this stage, though police are considering it as a femicide case.
