A businessman missing for a fortnight who says he was snatched by kidnappers in Switzerland has surfaced in Spain after apparently giving his abductors the slip.
Brazillian investor Marcio Rodrigues da Silva, 44, had flown to Zurich to sign a deal but, he later told police, was kidnapped as soon as he arrived.
A mysterious last voicemail message to his wife Ana Lucia Rodrigues sent on 8th November told her he had “fallen into a trap”.
The full chilling message said: “Whatever God wants, okay? I think we fell into a trap, okay? Very big. I’m going to hope that God keeps me alive.
“I’m going to say something, love, from my heart. If anything happens with me, know that I love you very much.”
Now da Silva has surfaced in Spain telling police he managed to escape from his kidnappers after 13 days in captivity and called his wife on 21st November.
His brother-in-law, Carlos Roberto Cera, told local media in Sao Paulo: “We then contacted a couple of friends, who were close to where Marcio was, and they took him to the police station.”
Police are said to be investigating the bizarre kidnapping but, says Cera, have asked da Silva to remain in Spain and not to talk to the media.
