This is the moment a father thwarts an armed gunman attempting to rob him at gunpoint while he was taking his young son to school.

The footage shows the father and his young son standing on the pavement next to the boy’s schoolbag.

All of a sudden, a motorcycle pulls up and the pillion passenger, sporting a gun, jumps off and tries to mug the father of his belongings.

The father can be seen attempting to resist and, after a while, the robber tries to grab his belongings straight out of his pocket.

Suddenly, the father begins fighting back, hitting the robber in the face as the criminal takes off down the road.

The gunman can be seen in the CCTV footage aiming his weapon at the father and appearing to try to shoot him, but the lucky man manages to take cover behind a car and grab his son before fleeing the scene as the footage ends.

The incident took place in the Ipiranga district of the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo on Friday, 25th November.

The father, who has not been named, then reportedly dropped his son off at school.

It is currently unclear if the police are investigating the incident and if they caught the armed gunman and his driver accomplice.
