A parked van was also affected by the bridge collapse and needed to be lifted out the river while the local authorities closed the road for the safety of other road users, according to reports.

Terme Mayor Ali Kilic said: “We had to close the road for traffic, but unfortunately our citizens removed the signs and continued to use the road.

“The collapse left a huge hole and two citizens were taken to hospital while a vehicle needed to be removed from the scene.”

In the black and white footage, a man appears to be helping an elderly woman along the bridge as a motorist walks round to his parked white van with two bags.

Just as the motorist arrives at the van door, a large crack opens up at the foot of the bridge and the two pedestrians fall down the side.

Meanwhile, the motorist runs away as his van slides down the huge hole caused by the bridge collapse.

It is unclear if the local authorities are investigating the incident.
