A homeowner who bought a box of tools from B&Q was baffled when he arrived home to find them sealed underneath a plastic cover which required a screwdriver to open it.
The homeowner from Taiwan aired his frustrations on the island’s online bulletin board PTT under the username ‘kobe142435’ on 7th October.
In his post – titled ‘I bought it because I didn’t have tools’ – the homeowner shares two images of the 47-piece Stanley toolkit he purchased from his local B&Q branch.
But the iconic black and yellow Stanley tools, including screwdrivers, Allen keys, pliers and more, are covered in a sheet of hard plastic and bolted to the open toolbox by no fewer than five metal screws.
The buyer wrote: “I don’t have a toolbox at home, so I went looking for one at B&Q on Sunday.
“The Stanley toolbox was on sale at 599 TWD (15 GBP), but after I opened the box…”
The frustrated homeowner added: “I had to borrow a screwdriver from my neighbour and could only close the box once I removed the plastic.”
PTT commenters suspected the the man had accidentally purchased a sample.
But he said: “No, it wasn’t a sample product. I even made a point of grabbing one from inside the shelf.”
The homeowner did not say whether he planned to complain to B&Q’s Taiwan office.
