Police in Brazil have seized a young mum after she admitted to killing her own six-year-old daughter in a chokehold.

Tragic Isabelly Eloize Soares Freitas was admitted to hospital in Manaus, Brazil, on 3rd January.

Her mother told medics she had fallen ill while eating, but tests ruled this out.

Medics were unable to save her life.

Finding the girl’s death suspicious, doctors called police, who questioned her mother, father, and stepfather.

Tests later found that the youngster had been raped.

Police chief Joyce Coelho said: “The autopsy report indicated that the child was asphyxiated, although the investigation also found sexual abuse.

“The abuse was not recent…but it was included in the police report so the perpetrator can be investigated in the same inquiry.”

Following the autopsy report, 23-year-old Claudiana Freitas admitted to police that she had killed her daughter.

She told how she had sat with Isabelly on a chair and squeezed her neck with her arm.

But when she had realised her daughter was passing out, she apparently regretted her actions and asked her uncle and neighbours for help.

Under questioning, Freitas told police she had argued with the girl’s father a day before the killing because he had refused to stay home with her.

She claimed she had asked him to stay with her because she was feeling depressed and feared “doing something stupid”.

She also told police she was upset because she had argued with her partner, who left the home hours before the alleged crime.

Freitas is expected to be charged with aggravated homicide, while police will also investigate the alleged rape of the young victim.
