Mum That Leapt From Moving Car After Being Stabbed In Neck By Kidnapper Is Reunited With Stolen Baby

A mum who leapt from a moving car after being stabbed in the neck has been reunited with her newborn baby girl who was kidnapped in the attack by a woman posing as a good samaritan who had offered to donate nappies and baby clothes on Facebook.

The incident took place in the Mexican city of Reynosa, which lies on the border with the US state of Texas, on Tuesday, 3rd August.

The newborn’s mother, Elizabeth Cruz Hernandez, went to a square outside a shopping centre to meet a woman she had been in touch with on Facebook who went by the name ‘Peravel Gabby’.

The woman had posted a photo of several nappies in a group on 26th July with the caption: “I’m giving away girls’ clothing and nappies. To whoever really needs it. There are various items.”

Elizabeth arranged to meet with the woman, and once they were both at the scene, she offered to give Elizabeth a lift to a doctor’s appointment she had to attend.

It was when Elizabeth was in the car that the suspect drew a knife and attacked her – in the neck, according to reports – forcing her out of the vehicle without her 12-day-old newborn.

Elizabeth was taken to hospital but was later discharged and was able to report the crime to the police, with the authorities then launching a search for her missing newborn.

Local media reported on Friday, 6th August, that the baby girl – identified as NN Cruz Hernandez – had been found by the police on the previous afternoon in “perfect health”.

She was under the care of two people, whose identities were not given, in an area of Reynosa.

The two people were ordered to appear before the prosecuting authority, but it is not clear if they were taken into custody.

The true identity of the kidnapper has not been reported.
