Accused Tradezsha Trenay Bibbs, 29 – from Houston – attacked defenceless Brielle Robinson while they were staying in a motel room in 2016.

As baby Brielle cried, cruel Bibbs picked her up by the arms and dropped her to the ground.

Then she slapped, punched and pummelled the baby’s face, torso and ribs until she stopped moving.

It was only when Bibbs saw that her daughter had stopped breathing that she called paramedics.

Biggs tried to convince hospital medics that her daughter had been injured falling from her car seat.

But doctors became suspicious when they saw Brielle’s injuries bore all the hallmarks of physical abuse.

They reported the case to Houston police and noted that Bibbs seemed disinterested in the child’s fatal injuries.

She was arrested a few days after the girl’s death after she admitted to lying about the girl’s accidental fall during a police interview.

Bibbs was initially convicted of capital murder, which can carry the death penalty if convicted.

But that verdict was reversed and Bibbs was retried and found guilty of felony murder on 3rd April, which carries a sentence of life imprisonment.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “Our office stands up for all victims, but a baby is the most innocent of victims.

“We believed that a life sentence was appropriate for this brutal murder and a Harris County jury agreed.”

And Assistant District Attorney Keaton Forcht said: “Bibbs deserved a life sentence for what she did to her child.

“She beat her countless times and seemed to care about as much about the death of her daughter as she did about the life of her daughter.”

Assistant DA Napoleon Stewart added: “We are very happy with the verdict in the case.

“We are happy that justice was served for baby Brielle.”
