This is the moment a woman gives birth in the back of her car at the entrance to a hospital after the baby’s head started to show as she was being driven to the facility.

According to local media, a driver who was taking his unnamed relative to the hospital in the neighbourhood of San Juan de Aragon in the county Gustavo A. Madero in the Mexican capital Mexico City asked the police for help as the woman was about to give birth.

The driver was reportedly escorted by police and an ambulance who used sirens to help him to make his way to the hospital.

Reports state the medical staff were warned that the baby’s head was almost out when the police and the car transporting the mother-to-be arrived at the entrance to General Hospital 29 of the Mexican Social Security Service (IMSS).

In the video, the mother can be seen giving birth in the back of the car with help from nurses and doctors. A member of staff in a blue uniform can be seen carrying the tiny tot before she grabs a pair of cutters which were reportedly used to cut the umbilical cord.

Then a man who is not seen in the video is heard saying right after the baby is born: “It’s a boy, tell them it’s a boy!”

A police officer who helped during the delivery told local media: “When we were out of the hospital 29 of the IMSS the baby’s head started to show, I helped them and then a paramedic arrived, I moved aside and he helped deliver the baby and gave the child medical attention.”

The mother and her son were reportedly taken inside the hospital to be examined and looked after by the hospital staff.

Both the mother and her son are reportedly in a good condition and the family thanked the police officers who helped in the birth.
