Moment Man In China Appears To Control Mini Tornado Like The Last Airbender

This footage shows a man in China seeming to control a mini-tornado like something out of The Last Airbender.

The incident took place in the city of Linyi, which is located in Shandong province, on China’s eastern coast and shows the unnamed man moving his arms around while a small whirlwind swishes some leaves around him.

The man’s movements are so in sync with the whirlwind that it almost looks as if he is controlling its movements, not unlike Aang, who is the main character in Nickelodeon’s animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and who, as a monk and the last surviving Airbender, can bend the element of air to his will.

The animated series was turned into the 2010 film The Last Airbender directed by M. Night Shyamalan and Nickelodeon has now teamed up with Netflix to turn the story into a live-action series.

The footage of the man, who can be seen wearing a black, woolly hat and a rainbow-coloured puffy jacket as he apparently controls the mini-tornado using his hands was posted on social media platform Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China.

It drew speculation that he was in fact “driving the wind” so as to sweep golden leaves on the ground that had fallen of trees due to the changing of the seasons and the beginning of autumn.
