This is the moment two worried adult dogs give an enthusiastic welcome to a puppy after a kindhearted Malaysian cop manning a nearby roadblock rescued it from starvation after it fell in a monsoon drainage ditch.

In the footage, filmed in the south-western Malaysian state of Selangor, the unnamed cop is seen in the drainage ditch as he tries to gain the poor pooch’s trust.

In the video, the officer is seen trying to stroke the scared puppy in order to pick it up, but it recoils several times.

He then managed to grab the pooch by the scruff of the neck before lifting it to safety where two dogs, reportedly its parents, were waiting on the grass verge.

The incident took place at a monsoon drainage ditch next to a roadblock that was manned by Malaysian cops and soldiers, according to local media.

The video was shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Ezam Bin Ramli’ where it has been viewed nearly 350,000 times and shared by 20,000 netizens.

The Facebook user said: “It is not a human frontliner, but even though it’s just a puppy, it is still God’s creation. Just look at how its guardians are thankful.”

Netizen ‘Faridah Malai’ commented: “You have lifted the police force’s image.”
