Missing Teen Girl Found Dead In Open Sewage Canal Sparking Riots

A teen girl who was reported as missing after leaving home to pick up some lottery tickets has been found dead with her body discarded in a sewage canal.

Ambar Viridiana Uicab Tapia, 17, was found dead in the municipality of Cuautitlan, in the central Mexican state of Mexico on 6 November.

She left her home to collect lottery tickets on 23 October and was not heard from again.

The local authorities said that they have discovered the teen’s body in a filth filled open sewage canal in the area.

It is unclear if the victim’s death involved any wrongdoing, and the autopsy results have yet to be revealed.

The newspaper, El Universal, said that the girl’s family had identified her body and state prosecutors are launching investigative proceedings.

Meanwhile, Uicab Tapia’s family and friends have staged a protest in the area where the teen’s body was found to demand justice after insisting she was killed.

During the protest, a group of feminists reportedly painted a police car and officers responded by firing tear gas into the crowd to disperse them. Several protesters were arrested during the subsequent scenes.
