Marcelo said: “That match was very difficult for me. I went through that and I started to value things I already appreciated differently.

“It is something you cannot control. If you do not control yourself then you have a big problem.

“It served as a learning experience and I learned to appreciate things.”

Marcelo explained the panic attack was provoked by the immense pressure that comes with playing at Real Madrid saying: “You have to win.

“You have to win because when Real Madrid plays a final we have to win. It is a huge pressure.”

Marcelo also spoke about his Brazilian teammate Rodrygo after the Brazilian’s impressive start to his Real Madrid career, saying: “I see him as a baby. He is very young and has not lived through much in his career.

“I am very happy for him because he is in the best team in the world, in my opinion, and for having had such wonderful matches.

“With the head he has on his shoulders, I am sure he is going to have many more and better matches.”

Marcelo has played for Los Blancos since 2007 making 494 appearances. He has helped the Spanish giants win both La Liga and Champions League four times.
