The police are looking for a man who allegedly kidnapped his three-year-old son and his teenage niece in Tennessee and Kentucky before driving to Michigan and then dumping his car in California.

The two children, named as Noah Clare, 3, and Amber Clare, 16, were reportedly kidnapped in the neighbouring states of Tennessee and Kentucky by Jacob ‘Jake’ Clare, 35, and they were reported as missing on 7th November.

On Tuesday, officials said they found Clare’s car in California on the other side of the country after he was believed to be staying with relatives in Michigan.

An amber alert has been issued for the suspect’s young son, who was allegedly snatched in the city of Gallatin, in the state of Tennessee.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Clare is wanted for custodial interference and aggravated kidnapping.

He is also suspected of kidnapping his 16-year-old niece in Kentucky.

On Monday, the Michigan State Police said they may have been travelling to the city of Harbor Springs in Michigan.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) said in a statement on 15th November that the “kidnap victims may be in northern Michigan.

“The Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post has been requested to assist law enforcement agencies in Tennessee and Kentucky in locating a kidnapped 16-year-old female, Amber Clare, and 3-year-old male, Noah Clare.

“They were abducted by a family member, 32-year-old Jacob Clare of Beaver Dam, KY, and possibly enroute or in northern Michigan near Harbor Springs.

“Amber Clare was kidnapped in Kentucky and Noah Clare was kidnapped in Tennessee. They were reported missing on November 7, 2021.”

Noah’s mother Amanda Ennis initially said that she believed her former partner was making his way to Michigan where he has many relatives.

She said: “He [suspect] has a ton of family and friends up in Michigan on both sides of the family.

She added: “His entire side of the family is Michigan, her mom Jamie, is from Michigan. So, just a lot of contacts up there.”

However, the manhunt has apparently extended beyond the state borders of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Michigan after the suspect’s Subaru Legacy with the Tennessee number 42MY10 was found in the city of San Clemente in the state of California on Tuesday, 16th November.

The police also called on the public to come forwards with any information that could lead to Clare’s arrest as the investigation continues.
