This is the moment a dad films his son, who appears to be under 10 years old, driving a lorry down the motorway.

It is not clear when or where the video was recorded, though it took place in Brazil and the footage recently went viral on social media.

The footage shows how the young child sits on the edge of the driving seat to be able to reach the pedals as he apparently calmly drives fast down the motorway without a seatbelt on.

Meanwhile, his dad, who is also not wearing a seatbelt, can be seen looking into the camera as he says: “Here we are, look, involved in the race. Some guys will say ‘you’re crazy’.

“I’m not going to steal a pistol or a revolver, nor have I sent him to steal or take drugs. This is my pride, look. To be like him, a lorry driver.”

He carries on with his borderline unintelligible narration as he turns the camera to face the single carriageway ahead, where another lorry can be seen approaching on the opposite lane.

The footage was posted to Instagram on the page ‘qualificados_101’, which is apparently dedicated to lorries, on 5th July.

In the comments section, netizens praised the youngster’s good driving while also pointing out that the act was illegal.

Instagram user Kauan Ribeiro Damasceno commented: “It’s right to teach your child to work. That’s the role of a father.

“But putting a lorry in the hands of a child is not just against the law, it is hugely irresponsible. How will it help this boy if he crashes this lorry and kills a family?”

Mechanic Victor Augusto, however, commented: “If everything is done by the law, our young ones won’t have a better future.”

It is not known if the man in the video was identified or arrested for his clear breach of the Brazilian traffic code.
