A man has died after colliding with a van while he was riding an electric scooter in Spain.

The fatal accident occurred in the popular city of Barcelona located in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia yesterday (Wednesday).

The accident killed a 59-year-old man, who has not been named, after he crashed into the van on the crossroads between the Provenca and Pau Claris streets at around 4:30 in the afternoon.

The image shows the area where the accident is reported to have happened.

Agents from the Barcelona Urban Guard and Medical Emergency System arrived at the scene shortly after, however, there have been no reports on who was at fault.

The victim was badly injured and taken to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries shortly after arriving.

Officers from Accident Prevention and Investigations Unit from the local police are looking into the accident.

The 59-year-old man’s death marks the tenth casualty from traffic accidents so far this year in the city which saw 9.5 million tourists staying in hotels last year.
