Malaysia Minister Shares Personal Number So Citizens Can Report Potholes But Now Says Only Text Me

This Malaysia minister who shared his personal phone number so citizens could report potholes to him seems to have bitten off more than he can chew and now only wants to be texted.

The Malayan Minister of Federal Territories, Shahidan Kassim, 70, revealed his personal phone number during a meeting in which he reportedly promised to fill potholes in less than 24 hours after a complaint has been registered.

But he has changed his tune now, asking citizens to text him instead after apparently being overwhelmed by the response.

The MP also divulged the phone numbers of his colleagues Deputy Federal Territories Minister Jalaluddin Alias and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Mahadi Che Ngah, according to local media.

At first, he had reportedly said: “We are available 24 hours, citizens can call us at any time when they stumble upon potholes and damaged roads in KL.”

He added: “We want our roads to be the best in Malaysia, and the world.”

But he has now backtracked and, according to the news site Coconuts, has now said: “I urge them to send me a text and I will act immediately.”

Coconuts helpfully reported: “If you see a pothole, you can text him at +6019-454 1111, Jalaluddin at +6019-652 444, or Mahadi at +6016-206 8883.”
